Designing our Future

We know that our current way of life is polluting the planet, changing the climate, and using up our natural resources faster than they can be replenished, but how do we fix it without depriving ourselves of the things we enjoy in life?

At Transition Ranui-Swanson, we believe that our community can imagine a different kind of future to the path we're on, and most importantly, that it'll be one that will actually be more pleasant than the world we live in now. By building a strong and vibrant local community, that can meet many of it's own needs for employment, food, energy, and transport, then we hope to enjoy new and more meaningful forms of wealth and security, and also redescover some of the benefits of having safe, supportive, vibrant and neighbourly local communities that perhaps our ancestors took for granted.

We're not looking to be old-fashioned. We're creating something new. You can help shape the vision for a better Ranui-Swanson, and here's how to get started:

March 29, 2009 from 9am to 11am
This is week two of a free weekly woodwork course running at the Earthsong Eco-Neighbourhood Workshop. The goal of the course is to work through the fundamentals of woodwork, slowly building confidence in an array of important tools as students collect their set of tools.Places are now probably full, but please feel free to get in touch if you're in the area and interested in woodwork, as it's always great to meet other woodworkers and I'm sure that there will be room for a broader range…See More
